South Bank College London is providing
many facilities students require directly and provide assistance
in some other.
General Living Expenses
We recommend that students allow around £ 50 - £ 60 per week for general living expenses. This should be enough to cover food, entertainment, books and other expenses. However, it does depend on how well you budget your expenses.
Accommodation
You have the options of living in either halls of residence or in privately rented houses. The halls of residence cost around £ 100 – £ 120 per week, including heating and electricity. Private housing is usually cheaper, ranging from £ 70 – £ 100 per week. However, the quality may be variable, and the cheaper accommodation may require you to share a flat, house or room.
Note: Generally, if you rent halls of residence or private accommodation, you will usually be required to pay a deposit of 2 – 3 months rent.
Student loans & grants assistance
Student loan services are available to UK and European Union students. We offer advice and assistance if you wish to apply for a student loan. Please contact the Admissions Office for more information on the Career Development Loan scheme. Some students will be eligible for subsidised learning if you are currently unemployed and receive income support, or can prove that your education will be beneficial to your current employment. For further information please contact the Admissions Office.
Opening a Bank Account
Opening a United Kingdom bank account can often be difficult for foreign students. We have an excellent rapport with local banks and can offer students a reference to obtain banking facilities.
Airport Collection
College will provide an airport collection service which costs £40 from Heathrow or £65
from Gatwick.

Health Care and Medical Insurance
Medical insurance is not necessary for overseas students who are in the UK for 6 months or longer. Students are advised to register with a local doctor upon arrival. Registration is free and we assist students with this if required.
Sports Facilities
Student Membership at our local sports club is heavily discounted for SBCL students. The club features a fully equipped gym, squash and tennis courts, swimming pool, aerobics, sauna and other facilities.
Postal Collection
You can arrange to have your post delivered to SBCL main office until you arrange your accommodation. Please request this service at reception when you arrive.
